The afraid rhyming, rapping dino has to be abject to the bazaar by his mother, but maybe arcade isn’t so bad. In this outing, Rappy saves the day with his rhymes back his mother forgets her arcade list: luckily, he fabricated up a poem. Up and bottomward the aisles they roam, Rappy’s attitude boring alteration as he sees all the appurtenances on offer. The adolescent dino alike goes out of his way to be helpful, volunteering to acquisition the toilet cardboard on his own. But the ambiguous belfry of tissue comes aerobatics bottomward on his head, bringing the administrator running: “You’re a pest. / You fabricated a mess. / And now I’m activity lots of stress. / I’m gonna scream and lose control, / Unless you aces up every roll!” Turns out Rappy is a built-in salesman, and in no time, he has shoppers advancing to aces up article they all need: “But aloof in case you forgot ’em, / This is article for your bottom!” Gutman makes the move to aboriginal readers with this access in the I Can Read! series, a akin two (“reading with help”) that uses arduous cant (“mosquito,” “cough,” “windshield,” “guaranteed”) and anywhere from four to nine curve of ballad on anniversary page, with Bowers’ illustrations confined to breach up the text. Unfortunately, rhymes generally feel affected and the scansion falters, authoritative this a blah outing. Kids practicing their account abilities deserve better. (Early reader. 4-8)
